Registered Sex Offender Who Authorities Say Removed Tracking Device Arrested In Santa Barbara County

Posted on Monday, May 21, 2012 5:02pm

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies say they’ve caught a registered sex offender they believe removed his electronic monitoring device last week.

State Parole officials say that last Wednesday, Albert Lee Allen’s tracking device was found near the Highway 101-Highway 246 interchange in Buellton. Authorities issued a statewide warning.

Friday afternoon, an off-duty deputy recognized the 43 year old man on a Buellton street. He called for backup, and a half dozen deputies poured into the area, arresting Allen as he tried to flee.
