Father, Son Both Plead No Contest To Cheating Clients At Santa Barbara Car Dealership

Posted on Friday, May 18, 2012 10:30am

A father and son team which operated a Santa Barbara auto dealership are headed to prison, after entering no contest pleas to grand theft, and tax evasion charges.

72 year old Chester Lee Taylor, and his son, Chester Adam Taylor, ran Montecito Motors in Santa Barbara. Prosecutors say they cheated clients out of more than a million dollars, and falsified tax documents for years.

As a part of a plea deal, the elder Taylor is expected to get a 13 year prison sentence, and the younger Taylor 11 years when they’re both formally sentenced next month. They have also been both ordered to pay restitution, but it’s believed they spent most of the money. The owed taxes alone amount to more than $5 million dollars.
