A restaurant which generated some controversy even before it opened its doors to the public for the first time in the Conejo Valley is now officially in business.
Hooters has opened its first location on the South Coast in Thousand Oaks.
After the chain announced it was going to move into a vacant restaurant space in the Janss Marketplace, some residents objected because they felt it didn’t fit with what they consider to be the family oriented community. Because the site was zoned for a restaurant, the only issue the city could rule on was whether Hooters should be granted the hard liquor permit it requested. The company then withdrew the bar request, allowing it to open with beer and wine service.
The restaurant opened for business over the weekend.
