Ventura City Council Settles Debate Over Paint Scheme For Library

Posted on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 5:04pm

After a colorful discussion, the Ventura City Council settled a debate over what color a more than half century old library should be painted.

Two different committees had different views on what colors the E. P. Foster Library should be painted.

After lengthy study, the Library Advisory Commission suggested a beige base, with green trim for the library, saying it would be a good fit with the neighborhood. But, after looking at old traces of paint for the building, the city’s Historic Preservation Committee called for a dark green base, saying it was more accurate for the 1950’s era building.

Efforts to find the original paint scheme in city documents were unsuccessful. After listening to comments on both proposals, the City Council approved a tan base, with a green trim paint scheme.
