Oxnard To Beef Up DUI Patrols For Cinco de Mayo With Officers From Other Cities

Posted on Thursday, May 3, 2012 12:01am

Don’t be surprised if you see Ventura Police, and Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling the streets of Oxnard this weekend.

Oxnard Police say the other agencies will help them beef up DUI patrols because of Cinco de Mayo, which falls on a Saturday this year.

Ventura Police, Sheriff’s Deputies, and the CHP will back up Oxnard officers as a part of the “Avoid The 14” campaign, which targets people driving under the influence.

Cinco de Mayo traditionally leads to a number of parties, and people going out to bars in Oxnard. In March, Oxnard Police, and other agencies helped Ventura Police on St. Patrick’s Day, which tends to be a big day of celebration in that city.
