Section of Normally Busy South Coast Road Closed After Accident Knocks Down Power Lines

Posted on Thursday, April 19, 2012 4:47pm

Southern California Edison crews have been working since early this afternoon to try to replace a major power circuit in downtown Oxnard, which was disrupted by a traffic accident.

A 17-year-old driver lost control of a car on the 1000 block of Oxnard Boulevard just before one this afternoon.

The car slammed into a pole with an electrical transformer, knocking some high voltage lines onto Wooley Road.

The accident disrupted power to several area businesses, and led to the closure of Wooley Road.

Oxnard Police say the section of the road between “C” Street and Oxnard Boulevard will probably remain closed until around two tomorrow morning, while Edison crews repair the damage.
