Oxnard School District Fires Teacher Belived To Have Participated In Adult Video

Posted on Thursday, April 19, 2012 7:05am

The Oxnard School Board voted to fire a middle school teacher district officials believe appeared in an adult video.

The school board moved last night to dismiss Stacie Halas, who taught science at Haydock Intermediate School. The board discussed the matter in closed session, before announcing its unanimous decision.

District officials say the teacher didn’t break any laws, but they feel her return to the classroom would be disruptive to the school.

She was suspended with pay in March, after district officials learned of the video, and launched an investigation. The video apparently was made long before she became a teacher at the school. Halas still has the right to appeal the decision to an administrative law judge.
