Authorities Identify Man Killed In Pickup Truck Crash Which Closed Major Santa Barbara County Highway For Hours

Posted on Thursday, April 19, 2012 3:29pm

Authorities are now identifying a man killed in a traffic accident which closed Highway 154 for nearly six hours between Santa Barbara, and the Santa Ynez Valley.

The CHP says the driver of a pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve in the Windy Gap area just after 2:30 yesterday morning, and struck a berm.

A front seat passenger was killed, and the driver seriously injured. A second passenger in a back seat escaped with minor injuries. The passenger who died is being identified as 25 year old Redi Naco, of Wheaton, Illinois. Police say the driver was Manuel Camarillo, who is from the City of Camarillo.

CHP investigators say they think alcohol was a factor in the accident, but that the crash is still under investigation.
