A man arrested in Ventura last month for two Northern California murders is now facing new charges in connection with a Ventura County incident, in which prosecutors say he held a family at gunpoint, in an effort to get $10,000 from them.
Jason Reyes was arrested in Ventura March 16th, following a standoff with a SWAT team. Ventura County Sheriff’s Department gang investigators on the scene at the time recognized the Oxnard man’s tattoos as those of a man who had held a Nyland Acres family hostage at gunpoint three days earlier.
Their investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for the 35 year old man, who’s currently being held in Northern California where’s he facing charges for two separate murders.
His older brother, Donald Reyes was also arrested for the March incident involving the family.
The victim in the robbery, and abduction lost part of a finger when he struggled with one of the brothers after being told he was going to be shot, and a handgun went off. The children were unhurt.
