Highway 154 In Santa Barbara County Reopened After Nearly Six Hour Closure Due To Fatal Accident

Highway 154 was closed for nearly six hours between Santa Barbara, and the Santa Ynez Valley as the result of a traffic accident which left one person dead, and a second critically injured.

The CHP says the driver of a pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve in the Windy Gap area just after 2:30 this morning, and struck a berm.

A front seat passenger was killed, and the driver seriously injured. A second passenger in a back seat escaped with minor injuries.

Highway 154 was reopened just after eight this morning.

The name of the person who died in the crash hasn’t been released yet. There’s no word on the exact cause of the crash, which is still under investigation.
