Supermarket Chain Founded On Central Coast To Close Stores In Region

Posted on Friday, April 13, 2012 12:07am

A local supermarket chain founded on the Central Coast decades ago is closing its four markets in the region.

Scolari’s says it will close its four locations in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, including its market in Santa Barbara.

The company is going to concentrate its efforts on its 14 stores in Nevada.

The chain’s California stores have struggled for the last few years, and company officials say they’ve been hurt by the fact the four outlets are spread out along the coast.

The four Central Coast supermarkets will be closed during the next two months, and three of the buildings have already been sold.
