Two people were shaken, but unhurt when the light plane they were in made a crash landing in Santa Barbara County.

The single engine experimental plane was flying southwest of Santa Maria Airport around 3:30 this afternoon, when it lost power.  The pilot crash landed in an open field on the 1700 block of Sinton Road.  The plane was heavily damaged, ending up on its nose, but there was no fire, and the pilot and passenger were able to walk away from the crash.

The crash is being investigated by the FAA.
