LAPD Homicide Detective Appointed To Fill Thousand Oaks City Council Vacancy

Posted on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 9:33am

An LAPD homicide detective has been appointed by the Thousand Oaks City Council to fill a vacancy on the panel.

Joel Price was selected from a field of 17 applicants to take over the opening created by the resignation of Dennis Gillette, who left the Council this month because of health issues.

There’s more than two years left in his term.

Price has lived in the city for more than two decades, and has served as a city traffic and transportation commissioner, as well as a city planning commissioner.

Some residents had called for the council to appoint Al Adam, who was the runner up in the last election.

And, others were critical of the council’s decision not to hold a special election, but some council members say this process saved the city the thousands an election would have cost.
