Man Arrested After Facsimile Explosive Device Discovered Outside Of Police Station In Ventura County

Posted on Monday, March 5, 2012 12:51am

A Ventura County man is facing charges in connection with the placement of what appeared to be an explosive device outside of the Moorpark Police Station.

Authorities received an anonymous 911 phone call around noon on Saturday that a suspicious packages was sitting outside of the station, on the 600 block of Spring Road, in Moorpark.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies found a bottle containing a liquid, along with a threatening note.  The department’s bomb squad, along with the County Fire Department’s Hazmat Team responded, and determined the device was a replica.

Investigators say the 911 call led them to Jorque Loza of Moorpark, who was arrested for placing a facsimile explosive device, and threatening an officer.
