Water System Maintenance Could Temporarily Affect Taste, Odor Of Water Supply in Much Of Ventura county

Posted on Monday, February 13, 2012 12:19am

Tap water could taste, and smell a bit different for more than 600,000 people in Ventura County for the next few weeks.

The Callegus Municipal Water District gets most of its water through a feeder pipeline coming from the West San Fernando Valley.

But, the pipe will be shut down starting today for the next few weeks, for maintenance.

The Water District will serve customers with reserves primarily stored in a surface reservoir, Lake Bard, but chlorine used to insure its safety could affect its taste, and odor.

Officials say the water will continue to be safe, and meet all state and federal requirements.

Calleguas delivers water in the region through 19 retail water agencies, and companies.
