Search Committee Created To Help Find SBCC President/Superintendent

Posted on Friday, February 10, 2012 12:46pm

The Santa Barbara City College Board Of Trustees approved creation of a 16 person committee to find a new President/Superintendent for the college.

The college district put Andreea Serban.on paid administrative leave last summer, and Jack Friedlander has been serving as acting President/Superintendent.

The exact cause of her suspension from the job was never made public, but she had clashed with the board over management style.

Her contract runs until this summer.

A consulting firm hired to help with the search reports it’s already received more than two dozen applications for the post.

Meanwhile, the Board has faced controversy over its handling of Serban.

A complaint was sent to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, which investigated, but the results of that review haven’t been made public yet.
