Ventura County Man Gets Five Year Sentence For Tax Fraud

Posted on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 12:45am

A Ventura County man has been sentenced to five years in jail, and ordered to pay more than $280,000 in restitution for tax evasion.

Prosecutors say William Nurick of Camarillo used different entities to conceal his control over bank accounts, vehicles, and property, related to money he received from an investment fund.  They say he took multiple steps to hide distributions from the fund.

The Camarillo man fought the charges, and was convicted following a federal trial.  Eight other defendants in the case pled guilty to charges ranging from tax fraud to securities violations.
