Superbowl Sunday Means Super DUI Crackdown In Ventura, Santa Barbara Counties

Posted on Friday, February 3, 2012 10:56am

Law enforcement agencies in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties say they’re planning to deploy extra DUI patrols for Super Bowl Sunday.

Oxnard and Santa Barbara are among the communities promising beefed up patrols.  In Ventura County, the “Avoid The 14″ Campaign of agencies is taking part in the NFL’s “Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk Effort”.  It’s an effort to educate people throwing Super Bowl parties that they should ensure there are designated drivers, or ride sharing so people who’ve been drinking aren’t behind the steering wheel.

It also calls for making non-alcoholic drinks available, and serving food at the parties, and being prepared to call a cab, or have someone stay overnight if they are impaired.
