Mammoth Lake Doctor Facing Charges In Connection With Santa Barbara Teen Found Dead

A prominent Mammoth Lakes doctor facing charges he, and another man had improper contact with a teenage Santa Barbara girl has been found dead.

Dr. Andrew Bourne was found dead in the Mammoth Lakes area on Tuesday.  Foul play isn’t suspected.

Bourne, and Joseph Walker of Mammoth Lakes were arrested in January by Santa Barbara Police.

They say the parents of a now 16 year old Santa Barbara girl discovered some suspicious e-mails.

Detectives say over a two year period, the men and the girl exchanged more than one thousand e-mails, with the men’s intent to have sexual activity with the girl.

Investigators say Bourne, and Walker had second homes in Santa Barbara, and knew the girl’s family.

The men were out on bail.

Bourne was a vascular surgeon, and a married father of two who worked at Mammoth Hospital, and was a member of the Mammoth Lakes School Board.

After his arrest, the 46 year old man resigned from the school board, and was terminated by the hospital.
