Ventura County Man Gets 12 Year Sentence For Making, Possessing Illegal Drug

Posted on Saturday, January 21, 2012 12:13am

A Westlake Village man has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for making, and possessing the illegal drug know as GHB.

David Walter Carmanis received a five year sentence as a result of  the recent charges, plus six years added because of two prior similar convictions, and a one year enhancement because he had served time in federal prison.

GHB has an intoxicating effect on people, and is often associated with raves.

Because of recent changes in state law, the 40 year old man will serve his sentence in Ventura County, as opposed to being sent to a state prison.
