Business Group Posts Reward For Arrest, Conviction Of Attackers In Santa Barbara Hate Crime

Posted on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 5:30pm

A Santa Barbara business group is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest, and conviction of three men responsible for a New Year’s morning hate crime in the city which sent a man to the hospital with a broken jaw, and head injuries.

The Gay & Lesbian Business Association of Santa Barbara is posting the reward, with leaders saying they are concerned, and outraged that this type of hate happened in  the city.

Just before two a.m. January 1st, a trio of men attacked two other men at the corner of Ortega and Chapala Streets.  The attackers made comments before the attack inferring they thought the victims were gay.  Both victims are expected to fully recover from their injuries.

Police released cell phone video of the attack shot by an eyewitness, but more than a week after the incident, the attackers are still at large.
