Failure Of Celebrity Couple To Appear In Santa Barbara Court Costly For Bail Bond Company

Posted on Friday, January 6, 2012 2:54pm

A Santa Barbara bail bond company has apparently lost a very expressive bet over whether a celebrity couple would show up in a local court, to face charges.

A judge today ruled the company will have to forfeit the million dollars it posted to guarantee that actor Randy Quaid, and his wife Evi would show up to face trespassing, and vandalism charges from an incident in Montecito.

Authorities say they had broken into a Montecito home they used to own, and lived there, causing some damage.

The Quaids fled to Canada, where Evi was granted citizenship, and have refused to turn to the U.S.

As a result of the judge’s ruling, Santa Barbara County will get the million dollars in bail money which is being forfeited for the failure to appear.
