Posted on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 5:38pm

Santa Barbara Police are looking for a trio of men in connection with what they say was a hate crime attack on two people the attackers  assumed were gay, and have released cell phone video of the incident.

It happened just before 2 a.m. New Year’s Day, in downtown Santa Barbara.  The two victims had left a downtown bar, and were walking to their vehicle near Ortega, and Chapala Streets when they were confronted by the trio of men in their 20′s.  One of them made a derogatory comment towards the victims, and then the three started beating them.  One of the victims suffered a broken jaw, and head injury, while the other escaped with minor injuries.  The trio then fled.

Santa Barbara Police are looking for possible witnesses.  They say all three of the men were white male adults, in their 20′s, with shaved heads.
