Posted on Monday, October 31, 2011 11:14am

An Oxnard man police say was driving with a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit is facing multiple charges, after he was involved in four separate traffic accidents in a ten minute period.

It happened just before 5 p.m. yesterday, near Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road.

Police called to the scene found three separate accidents, and witnesses pointed out a vehicle fleeing the scene.

There was a short chase, which ended when the hood of the vehicle being pursued flew up, blocking the driver’s view.  It crashed into a van near the intersection of Auto Center Drive, and Paseo Mercado.

45-year-old Servando Mendez was treated for minor injuries at a hospital, and then arrested on DUI, evading a police officer, and three hit and run charges.

No one was seriously injured.
