Santa Barbara City College Leader Hit By Controversy Takes Job In Orange County

Posted on Sunday, October 23, 2011 7:34am

The former head of the Santa Barbara Community College District has accepted a position with an Orange County college district.

Andreea Serban is the Coast Community College District’s interim Vice Chancellor of Educational Services, and Technology.

She’s had the title of President and Superintendent of Santa Barbara City College for about three years.  Then, earlier this year, she was placed on paid leave by the district’s board of trustees.  Even though she still retained her title in Santa Barbara, and was still being paid, she was no longer involved with running the district.

Because it was a personnel matter, trustees didn’t say why she was placed in paid leave, but she had clashed with the board over management style.
