Ventura County has approved a $240,000 settlement from a utility company to cover county firefighting costs in battling a 2008 brushfire caused by downed power lines.
Ventura County Supervisors okayed the settlement offer from the Southern California Gas Company in conjunction with the “Sesnon” fire.
The blaze destroyed some 80 structures in Los Angeles County, before burning into the Simi Valley area.
No structures were damaged in Ventura County.
The county had been seeking more than $300,000, but if the county had taken the claim to court, legal costs would have reduced any potential award.
