Oxnard Man Sentenced To 28 Years In Prison For Shooting In Restaurant

Posted on Thursday, October 13, 2011 12:45pm

A man convicted of shooting a teen at an Oxnard fast food restaurant in what prosecutors called a gang related shooting has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Alexander Talili of Oxnard pled guilty to three charges in connection with the September, 2007 shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant on the 400 block of South Ventura Road.

17-year-old DeShawn Johnson was seriously wounded.  His five year old brother, who was sitting in the same booth, was unhurt.

Prosecutors say the sentence was warranted, because they say Talili fired into the restaurant without concern for who else might be hurt.

Both the attacker, and the victim were gang members, and investigators say a past incident between the two sparked the shooting.
