Ventura County Gears Up To Take Over Management Of Convicts Being Diverted From State Prisons, To The County

Starting this week, people convicted of many non-violent, non-sexual crimes in California which would have once landed them in state prison will instead be headed to county jails.  It’s part of the state’s realignment efforts to deal with jail overcrowding.  KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports Ventura County Supervisors  adopted a plan to handle the influx of inmates, and parolees it will now have to deal with as a result of changes in state law.
