Final Preparations Are Underway For Debate in Ventura County Among GOP Presidential Hopefuls

Posted on Monday, September 5, 2011 10:27pm

Final preparations are underway for Wednesday night’s planned debate among eight GOP presidential hopefuls in Ventura County.  The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is  hosting the event, which is co-sponsored by NBC News and the “Politico” website, with NBC News anchor Brian Williams set to moderate the 5 p.m. debate.

Texas Governor Rick Perry says he will follow through on plans to take part in the debate, his first since announcing he’s officially in the race.  He missed some political events yesterday (8/5) because of the massive brushfires which have destroyed hundreds of homes in Texas.

Eight candidates have confirmed they will take part in the event.  Still missing from the fray is former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who hasn’t officially announced her intentions in the race yet.
