Ventura Fire Department Receives Grant Which May Allow Reopening Of Closed Fire Station

The Ventura Fire Department has received a $2.3 million dollar federal grant which may allow it to open a fire station closed due to budget cuts.

The Staffing For Adequate Emergency Fire And Emergency Response grant is from FEMA.  Fire Department officials if the Ventura City Council gives its approval the money would allow it to reopen its Telegraph Road fire station.  The station was closed in a controversial move in June of 2010, as part of $1.2 million dollars in department cuts by the financially squeezed city.
