Posted on Monday, July 18, 2011 7:47pm

A Simi Valley Police Officer was one of two people identified as the victims of an Arizona plane crash.  Officer Nicole Anderson, along with Anaheim Police officer Brian Hayes died in the Sunday morning crash in Winslow, Arizona.  Winslow Police say Hayes was the pilot, and Anderson a passenger in a single engine plane which crashed while trying to take off from the city’s airport, killing them both instantly.

Anderson was an eight year veteran of the Simi Valley Department, working as a patrol officer, on the Crisis Negotiation Team, on the Bicycle Patrol Team, and most recently as a Youth Services Officer.

Lieutenant Stephanie Shannon described Anderson as a bright, upbeat part of the department with a great attitude.

Anderson was 32 years old.  Funeral arrangements haven’t been announced yet.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.
