A test developed by Santa Barbara County educators, and researchers could provide an important new tool in providing early intervention for students.  The test is given to students as they begin kindergarten, to help assess things like physical and health readiness, and social-emotional and cognitive readiness so at-risk students can be identified before they are four, or five years into their academic careers, and struggling.  Researchers say the test has also shown that “Head Start” programs in Santa Barbara County are providing an important leg up for preschoolers in the county over those who don’t attend preschool.
