Fire In Ventura County Mall Injures Two, And Temporarily Closes Stores

Posted on Monday, June 27, 2011 12:07am

A fire in a clothing store at a Ventura County mall caused minor injuries to two employees, and led to the closure of five stores for the day.

Smoke was discoved during the noon hour on Saturday in the backroom area of Cache, which is a woman’s clothing store at The Oaks, in Thousand Oaks.  The fire in a restroom area triggered sprinklers which helped control the blaze until Ventura County firefighters reached the scene, and contained the situation.  Two employees investigating the smoke were treated for smoke inhalation.

Water from the fire damaged some neighboring businesses in the mall, which were closed for the rest of the day on Saturday.
