A dump truck which apparently lost its brakes plowed into a Newbury Park home converted into a day care center, but fortunately, the accident occured before kids were set to arrive for the day.
It happened just before 8 a.m.Thursday, on the 2600 block of Kelly Road. The truck apparently came down a hill, and couldn’t stop, crashing into the three unit home. There were people in the structure at the time, but fortunately, no one was injured. The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries. The people who live in the home have been temporarily displaced, because the structure was heavily damaged.
In 2010, a runaway big rig with brake problems coming off of Highway 154 crashed into a Santa Barbara home, killing three people.
