Governor Brown Vetos Proposed New State Budget

Posted on Thursday, June 16, 2011 10:52am

Governor Brown says he will not sign a proposed budget passed bv the state legislature.  He calls the plan unbalanced, and says it would continue deficits for years to come, while adding billions in new debt.  Brown says it also contains some legally questionable maneuvers, costly borrowing, and unrealistic savings.  Brown resumed his calls for Republicans to allow voters to vote on tax extensions, which is a part of his overall plan to cut spending, and keep some taxes set to sunset in place to close the state’s 26 billion dollar budget gap.
